Startup of the Year 2022 award goes to Snerpa Power!

Snerpa Power received the Startup of the Year 2022 award at UTmessan on February 3rd 2023 on the Eldborg stage in Harpa Conference Centre! This annual award from Ský (The Icelandic Computer Society) goes to startups offering new solutions worth special attention within the IT tech space in Iceland. The award means a lot to us, both as a recognition and encouragement to continue with developing our offering and solution for Power Intensive Users of electricity.

We are very proud and want to express our gratitude to all who have and continue to collaborate actively with us towards our goals of a more efficient power system that is always in balance. We also want to thank the Icelandic Computer Society and their selection committee for acknowledging the impact of our solution, and finally we congratulate  the other award winners this year:  Controlant (IT award), AwareGO (IT company 2022), CERT-ÍS (IT digital service 2022) and Inga Björk Margrétardóttir Bjarnadóttir (IT diversity award 2022).

The selection committees reasoning for awarding Snerpa Power the IT Startup of the year 2022:

Snerpa Power is a start-up that offers a new and unique solution for power intensive users (industries) in the electricity market, which leads to significantly improved utilization of resources and increased competitiveness of the electricity market. The solution accelerates the energy transition towards carbon neutrality and can save Iceland the equivalent of the installed power of up to one medium-sized power plant. The vision of SNERPA Power is an electricity system where electricity users as well as producers are active and contributing to an efficient and smart use of resources and competitive electricity prices. The company has quickly acquired three industrial pilot partners (Borealis Data Center, Rio Tinto Iceland, atNorth) and finalized tests and important steps in product development in collaboration with Landsnet and ISAL (Rio Tinto) in Straumsvík.
