As a Backend Software Engineer, you’ll design, develop and maintain the backend systems that power SnerpaPower’s platform.
You’ll work primarily with Python, Django, Celery, PostgreSQL and AWS, developing scalable backend services, REST APIs and asynchronous processing systems that handle complex energy and industrial data.
You’ll collaborate closely with other engineers and our Product team to turn complex customer and energy-market requirements into robust, scalable software.
We value engineers who are curious, pragmatic and adaptable—people who care about building high-quality software and are excited to explore new technologies, including AI-assisted development practices.
Your Responsibilities
We’re looking for a curious, driven and collaborative software engineer who enjoys solving complex problems and taking ownership of the solutions they build.
You don’t need to have worked with every technology in our stack. What matters more is that you have strong software engineering fundamentals, enjoy learning and are comfortable contributing to technical decisions.
You like understanding why something is being built - not only implementing specifications - and you enjoy working closely with colleagues across engineering and product to find the best solution.
Experience & Qualifications
You likely have:

Today, our platform helps manage more than 10 TWh of industrial electricity consumption annually, roughly equivalent to the electricity used by 3 million European households, with more than 1.2 GW of power-intensive load connected to the platform. We are expanding rapidly across the Nordics and Europe.
As part of our engineering team, you’ll have:
Location
The position is based at our office in the Reykjavík.
We have an office-first culture where close collaboration is an important part of how we build products and solve problems together, while providing flexibility when appropriate.
